JAMES N. DOYLE, SR. PROFESSORSHIP
in Entrepreneurship
When James Doyle, Jr. wanted to pay tribute to his father—a loving
dad, friend, and mentor, as well as a successful businessman who had
taught at the Simon School for 15 years—he established an endowed
professorship in his name.
“I still recall the look on my dad’s face when the professorship was
announced,” Jim recalls. “He was clearly touched by my gift and the
recognition he was getting.”
The professorship’s focus on entrepreneurship advances a proven
strength at Simon—and draws from the Doyle family genes. Both
father and son have launched successful start-ups, and Jim, Sr. was
instrumental in developing the School’s entrepreneurship program.
“It feels good to make a lasting gift that benefts an area of business
that is so important to us both,” says Jim, cofounder and executive
director of ProVenture Ltd., a Hong Kong-based manufacturer of
skin care products.
Ronald Goettler, the frst holder of the professorship, credits the
Doyles for their timely vision: “Business schools traditionally have
not done enough to prepare entrepreneurs to take their ideas to
market. That’s changing now, especially at Simon. It’s an important
part of our mission.”
