How Your Gift Can Help Every gift we receive – large or small – is appreciated and will make an impact. Here is a sampling of our needs. We also welcome donations for unrestricted funds, giving leadership the fexibility to address specifc priorities and take advantage of unexpected opportunities. Endowed Chair - $3,000,000 An endowed chair is among the most important gifts to an academic institution. It honors and recognizes the distinction of superior faculty excellence while providing invaluable fnancial support above and beyond salary, for use in research, teaching or service activities. An endowed chair will also provide funds in perpetuity for continued research efforts in neuromedicine. Distinguished Professorship - $2,000,000 The appointment to a named distinguished professorship is one of the most prestigious achievements for a member of the faculty. Such appointments provide strength and direction in carrying out research. Distinguished professorships recognize the best of the best, enabling the Ernest J. Del Monte Institute to retain luminary faculty. They also serve as a powerful recruiting tool, drawing to the Institute new faculty and researchers of established distinction from around the world. Endowed Professorship - $1,500,000 By establishing an endowed professorship, a named position for a faculty member, each program can ensure its ability to attract the best candidates and encourage the most promising research minds to pursue their interest, bringing their new, high-impact research ideas to fruition. Professorships also allow faculty members the fexibility to hire, train and mentor talented young scientists, ensuring a legacy of success will continue for generations to come. Fellowships - $750,000 Young investigators and scientists are essential to the vitality of any research effort. Support for postdoctoral fellowships underwrites their training. Early stage support is crucial in the development of more advanced research that will attract government and corporate support later on in their careers. The sponsor of a fellowship supports a worthy young researcher who has the imagination and drive to reach his or her highest potential in the discipline of neuromedicine. Research Funds - $500,000 Innovative research that holds great promise to a clinical and/or commercial project often cannot attract traditional avenues of support. Seed money from private philanthropists for creative pilot projects can stimulate interdisciplinary collaborations, provide support to new, promising investigators, and encourage exploratory projects of a highly innovative nature. Facilities The Institute seeks funding to support a well-equipped and modern physical environment that will rival some of the nation’s most advanced neuromedicine facilities. This will enhance the research initiatives of faculty and students and support new technology and innovative developments. Funding opportunities available within Neuromedicine include: Center for Neurologic Imaging............................$5,000,000 Neurologic Intensive Care Unit............................$5,000,000 Stroke Center.........................................................$8,000,000 Alzheimer’s Disease Center................................$10,000,000
